The establishment of Brazilian Federal Supreme Court: Institutional trajectories and the limits of politics 1891-1898

In this paper we will analyze the trajectory of the Federal Supreme Court in its Republican establishment in Brazil. We will observe the constitutional, political and jurisprudential changes in this period. In addition, we will examine the legal elite of this phase, finishing with brief concluding remarks. In short, we will analyze the institutional development of the High Court at the beginning of the Brazilian Republic: 1891-1898.
