This paper reviews the different regulations on education issued from the beginning of the 19th century, in parallel with the Spanish constitutional history, which have established their ideological orientation or conditioning and, in doing so, have defined how people were integrated in the successive political regimes. This has been almost always a defensive task regarding the power’s interests, regardless the democratic or authoritative condition of the system, up to the present Constitution, whose provisions about educational ideals make a clear difference about it.
