Abstract

This paper try to reconstruct the challenge made by the Swiss debater Karl-Ludwig von Haller to the gaditanian Constitution of 1812 in its book Análisis de la Constitución Española (1823). In addition, it is studied the second part of the writing where he exposed the Jacobian universal conspiracy plans and the means to carry out a real “restoration”. All comparing two translations into Spanish of 1823 that demonstrate the plurality of the early anti-liberalism.

Josep Escrig Rosa, Universitat de València

Becario del programa de Formación del Profesorado Universitario en la Universitat de València.  Sus intereses se centran en el estudio de la reacción antiliberal al primer liberalismo y su particular dialéctica con el mundo de la revolución, tanto desde el punto de vista historiográfico como de los discursos y las prácticas. Es autor junto con Encarna García Monerris de “Apologistas y detractores. El primer discurso antiliberal en la historiografía”, en Encarna García Monerris, Ivana Frasquet y Carmen García Monerris, Liberalismo y Antiliberalismo en España e Iberoamérica, 1780-1840: Discursos, Actores y Prácticas, Sílex, Madrid, (en prensa).
