This main thesis of this article is that a new concept of citizenship can only be built in an historical perspective which pay attention to the difference between men and women. Specifically, it is needed to study the experiences, strategies and alternatives developed by women as citizens –or as people excluded as citizens– through the contemporary history, not only in the public and political affairs, but also in the private life and in the different social status.
