Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • If you are submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, you need to ensure that the instructions in Ensuring blind review have been followed. In this case, send two documents: one as it should be published, and a second omitting the personal data.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • The text is original and has not been previously published.

Author Guidelines

STUDIES AND NOTES

SENDING ORIGINALS: Originals must be sent obligatorily through the journal's online system described in "Submissions". The author must register as AUTHOR to proceed with the submission.

  • The text must be original and submitted in Word format for Windows (files with .doc or .rtf extensions).
  • The text must not have been accepted nor submitted to other journal.
  • There is no page/character limit in "Historia Constitucional". Nevertheless studies longer than 45 pages (Times New Roman 12p, 1 line spacing) could be considered for publishing in two different issues.
  • Please use this Doc as model (download).

REVIEWS AND BOOK NEWS:

  • The reviews will have a necessarily analytical and reflective character of the work, examining it in the light of a broader historiographical debate, contextualizing it, comparing it with other works, and showing the contributions of the book studied, both positive and also its possible shortcomings and the questions it raises, as well as the lines of research that it may leave open, if any.
  • Book news will describe the different parts of the book, summarizing them and showing them in the most aseptic way that can be conveyed to the reader. Value judgments will be avoided as far as possible and, particularly, bibliographical news with a purely apologetic or clearly pejorative sense.
  • In any case, the journal, according to the external referee' reports, may requalify the original text received, changing it from review to book report, or vice versa, regardless of the previous qualification attributed to it by the author. The author will be notified of the proposed change and may ask the editorial board to reconsider it or, if he/she does not agree, to desist from publication in Historia Constitucional.
  • Please use this doc as a model (download).

Submissions for studies, notes or reviews must be sent using the Submission System included in the web. Registration is needed.
