Abstract

This study explores the concept of provisional constitutions, conceived as temporary frameworks designed to govern nations during periods of transition, contrasting with traditional permanent constitutions. It focuses on the role of these fundamental laws in 19th-century Mexico and, through the analysis of their political context, content, and motivations for adoption, highlights the significance of provisionality as a key tool for political reorganization in scenarios of urgency and a lack of constituent legitimacy.
