Abstract

The new Constitution of 1931 granted women the right to vote. Right-wing parties saw it as a political weapon in the Catholic counter-offensive against the Spanish Republic. These parties promoted the creation of women's groups as a means of mobilising electoral support. This study analyses the process of group formation of right-wing women's associations and their role in electoral politics and propaganda before the 1933 elections.
