Spanish parliamentarians in contemporary times (1808-1933). This work of long analysis allows to know the evolution of the legislation and the debates mainly focused on the question of the incompatibilities. Starting from an initial situation in which the deputies of the Cortes of Cadiz and the Liberal Triennium (1808-1823) received a per diem for representation, the liberal census political system was adopted, which, except for the Democratic Sexennium (1868-1874), lasted until 1890, in which only the largest contributors participated and the post of deputy was considered an honour that should be exercised free of charge. This concept changed with the arrival of the Second Republic and the adoption of a universal democratic system, which guaranteed the political rights of all citizens and the necessary remuneration of the deputies.
