Abstract

What is the nature of the illustrated paradox represented by the fact that great fighters for the emancipation of women of all conditions opposed the constitutional recognition of women’s suffrage for reasons of political opportunity? In what sense has the approval of women’s suffrage in Spain been reviewed since now? In response to both questions, this article develops a historical-juridical, political and philosophical analysis, oblivious to any exercise of prediction in reverse starting from the juridical and political itinerary on what happened afterwards. In the final considerations, a meta-reflection is faced where the interpretative framework defended is questioned.
