Abstract

This work is an approach to the previous Spanish education systems to the enactment of the current Constitution, namely those education systems that from the age of liberalism were approved in courts: that is in 1821, 1857 and 1970 immediately preceding. The aspect studied in these regulations is that of the measures taken with regard to freedom of education; this leads to perceive that the problem in the past was basically the same as today, although the different contexts vary in an important point for the education issue, as the widespread recognition of religious freedom in Spanish law since 1978.
